Coach wellbeing
Recognising the emotional, personal and practical pressures coaches may carry beyond the touchline.
THE SPORTING MISSION
Supporting Those Who Shape the World of Sport.
Behind every athlete is a network of people who inspire, guide and support their journey.
Coaches, team management and sporting clubs play an important role in developing athletes and strengthening communities.
However, those supporting others can also experience personal challenges, pressure, uncertainty and isolation.
The Sporting Mission aims to walk alongside people across the sporting community, recognising that everyone deserves hope, care and support.
Coaches, Teams & Clubs
Coaches carry responsibilities beyond training sessions and match days. Performance expectations, leadership pressures, difficult decisions, and personal challenges can all affect wellbeing, so TSM aims to create opportunities to connect, share experiences, and receive encouragement throughout personal and professional journeys.
Recognising the emotional, personal and practical pressures coaches may carry beyond the touchline.
Making space for the weight of responsibility, difficult decisions and performance expectations.
Acknowledging that coaches can face struggles in family life, identity, finances and wellbeing beyond sport.
Encouraging coaches navigating change, uncertainty, retirement or a shift in their sporting role.
Creating opportunities for supportive relationships, honest conversation and meaningful connection.
Team Management & Support
Team managers, medical staff, analysts, administrators and other support personnel contribute significantly to sporting environments. Their responsibilities can involve demanding schedules, high expectations and challenges both within and outside sport. TSM aims to recognise and encourage everyone contributing to the sporting community, regardless of role or level of responsibility.
Clubs & Organisations
Sporting clubs are more than places of competition. They are communities where people form friendships, develop skills, and experience a genuine sense of belonging.
At THE SPORTING MISSION, we aspire to connect with clubs and sporting organisations to explore opportunities for community engagement, wellbeing awareness, encouragement, and meaningful support.
Our future vision includes working alongside grassroots clubs, amateur teams, and professional sporting organisations in ways that are thoughtful, relational, and shaped by local needs over time.
Team Wellbeing Culture
Strong sporting communities recognise that people carry real needs beyond competition and results. Athletes, coaches, and support staff should feel respected, valued, and encouraged throughout their sporting journeys. At TSM, we aim to promote compassionate conversations, meaningful connections, and greater awareness of personal and emotional wellbeing within sporting environments.
